Vulnerability Development: POP3 thread

OK, this has drifted from the original question ("Is there a new
pop3 exploit?) which was on-topic for this list.  It's now
about how to interpret remote pop3 scanning , which should go
to Pen-Test, or how to interpret pop3 scans you've received,
which should go to Incidents.

I'll drop any more comments that don't have to do with a new 
exploit.
