Is SSL the only option to think of?

hehe... I'm surprised no one else here remembers shttp. Granted, no one
uses it these days (most favor SSL or TLS for security, the s in https),
but shttp is still in option for secure web traffic. 

At least in the dust-laced books on my shelf ;)
