Hi Cathy, Gabriel,

i would consider the same thing Cathy, what about setting up some kind of a
monitoring system with a web access? To be honest, if there are people that
are not allowed to touch servers, i don't want them anywhere near the
servers either. A locked door can prevent the great idea of quickly
unplugging a mainframe * to charge a mobile phone ... just a thought

*(it didn't look like it was connected to anything! the cable was just going
into the floor! yes, this has happened)

I would say a web page showing the status. this way any machine can connect
and see, but not control.

Hi Chris,

Yes that is pretty much exactly what we need to do. We have
an app that shows the status of jobs that take very long to
complete. We want people to be able to see the status of jobs
but do not want them to be able to terminate them (or do anything
else for that matter)

This seems to be an easy solution. Can you think of any others?

Thanks for your feedback.

Cathy

Just out of curiousity, what makes this software particularly interesting
for you?

Do you want to lock the servers with the event log or task manager
showing,
and let people who are not allowed to 'touch' the servers monitor the
logs
and load, or what?

We have been testing the Transparent Screen Lock

http://www.e-motional.com/TScreenLock.htm

It basically allows you to prevent access to a Windows server
but allows the display to be visible. Before going ahead with
a large scale installation I was wonderingif any of you guys
have had any experience with it (Both good orbad) that may
affect our decision.
