From: Paul Gaskin <paul () midwesttechnologies com> I am new to the list and I'm not sure if this even falls into this ategory but I'm getting desperate! We have set up a VPN and it seems to work fine everyone can log on and move around the network and send and receive email. One person though... on a DSL using PPPoE can not send e-mail. we have tried everything... has anyone run into this problem? the user is on a Windows XP laptop connected to a Linksys wireless router (Using PPPoE). and Outlook for E-mail.
1) Yes, this is basically on the wrong list, but most of us are happy to help you anyways. Check out freelists.org, they have lots of good admin lists. 2) First, check out the XP firewall settings to make sure you're allowing port 25. 3) Check your Outlook settings to make sure it correctly points to your SMTP server 4) Is anyone else connected using the same router? If they are, is theirs working? If not, try another box to see if you can replicate the problem.
4) Try a different router, or a cat5 connection instead of wireless 5) Is the user having any other network problems?
