Try HFNetChkLt from Shavlik (www.shavlik.com).  If you have fewer than 50
clients, the software is free, otherwise it's $50 for an unlimited number of
clients.

Software runs on any Windows platform (doesn't have to be a server (mine is
a Win2K Pro box)), and supports patch scans, deployment levels, centralized
download, and scheduled or on-demand deployment.  It's saved me an immense
amount of time.
