Microsoft downloadable 802.1x authentication client for windows 2000
will do that for you.
As will a windows xp SP1 machine.

        Does any body have ever tried 802.1x authentication using some
GUI software??? I'm trying to find a GUI software that can communicate
to the backbone switch and show the user a dialog box of username and
password.
