In the Netherlands, CISSP is the certification you'll need.
A couple universities are giving this master class.
More and more companies are looking for CISSP professionals, this begun
two years ago and is growing ever since.

I can speak for my Italy, which appears to be the country where you do
work as
well, according to your website. 
CISSP is fairly well recognised among the security professionals. There
is an
increasing number of CISSPs (have a look at
https://www.isc2.org/cgi/directory.cgi ) and there are dedicated mailing
lists
such as cisspitalia.org. Sure, there still is a wide audience that
hasn't heard
of CISSP, but this is changing quite nimbly.

is there anyone in the list in Europe (or who has worked extensively in 
Europe in the Security business) who has a grasp of how much value the
CISSP 
certification has in Europe (and more specifically in Southern Europe) ?

Although I've been working in Security Consulting for quite a while now,
I am 
under the impression that most potential employers / clients don't even
know 
what CISSP is, and if they know they don't care much (at least south of
the 
UK).

I'd like to know if this is just an impression of mine or what. Anyone

share their opinions/experiences?
