Programmable Text Editor?

G'Day all, I have what I thought was a basic need. But the more I thought about it, and the more I searched, the more I realized it might not be that simple. At least for me. What I am looking to do is create a text file, that I can modify fairly easily, that would contain a list of the attachments that I wish to block on our e-mail server. Our current e-mail a-v program removes attachments, but only those that have been entered in the 50 character entry field. I can enter more than 50 characters in the field but it makes it impossible to manage. Again, being an MS network I don't have the linux/bsd script/programming experience, and have been told by management that I cannot block all attachments. My first thought was to compile a list in a text editor through some automation or macro, which could then be converted to a csv file, and then copied into the 50 char. field. The problem, for me, turns out to be the automation. How do I make maintaining a list of blockable attachments, like the attachment list for Netsky.C, easy to maintain? I would love to learn Perl, but also would like to have this working this month. I have used winbatch in the past, but don't really care for the program as it made for an unstable work environment. I was looking into jedit this morning and saw it had macro capabilites. But, even then, am not sure if this is what I need in the end. So I was wondering how others would approach this? Am I going about this all wrong or is there some hint of logic in my reasoning? Thank you in advance for any responses.
