Can we please stop this thread now?

The posts that are reaching the queue are now based entirely on opinion
and don't teach us anything. I let this discussion get started because I
think it's useful for people to be courteous and know how to properly
quote the message they are replying to. If you choose to post above or
below the quote, or even better, inline, that's up to you.

In other words, learn how to quote when replying to a message -- but
there is certainly no right or wrong way to do so. Not everyone grew up
learning the netiquette of the Usenet, which I would argue formed the
basis of threaded discussions on the Internet long ago. And not everyone
understands the need to trim quotes, especially when following long
threads. This is the crux of the matter.

If people who post one- or two-line messages to the list along with
pages and pages of quotes could learn to trim their quotes, we would all
be better for it. And again, whether they post above or below the quote,
or inline, it's entirely personal preference.

Thanks for your contributions but this thread is now closed.

Regards,
moderator
