Outlook and personal firewalls

well it seems that Outlook (versions before 2003) and Exchange 2000 uses
different ports to communicate and this has become a bane for security
administrators trying to lock down Windows desktops. I know it's
documented in MS KB but I just want to know how the rest of you are
dealing with this.
