Mike, I have the Security + cert, it's a good foundation, some of the Cisco cert CCNA, CCNP, CCSP etc. will get you the networking, firewall grounding. As far as the CISSP; I am working on it now, The telecommunication Domain is called the glue this the recommendation for the Cisco direction. Spend some time learning different OS systems Windows, LINUX, UNIX it is very helpful going for the CISSP. I've read about the many security certifications out there, and I have decided to go with the Security+ certification from CompTIA. How does everybody feel about this certification? I would've rather tried to get the CISSP but you need experience for that, and that's something that I don't have right now. Is this a good first certification in the Information Security Field or are there better ones? Mike B.
