RE: Policy clause issues

I see stuff like this -- but often several screenfuls long! -- on
submissions to a couple of lists that I co-moderate. My standard
reply to users bringing along such baggage is that apparently participating
in our forum is not considered an appropriate use of their email account
(our forum terms violently conflict with this -- submissions become property
of the *forum*, thank you muchly), and so I suggest that they get a free
web email account to use for their list participation.

It seems to me that the target audience of stuff like this is really
the *senders* using company email, not their recipients. If you don't
want employees abusing the email service you provide, tell THEM -- *I*
could care less.

Anybody aware of case law on enforceability of text inserted like
this? IANAL, so the fact that I would be surprised if it turns out
to be enforceable is not a very convincing data point.

Subject: Policy clause issues

Is it alright to insert this clause into your IT Security policy:

"All company e-mails are owned by ABC Corp. and ABC reserves
the right to review the contents whenever deemed necessary
after obtaining the necessary approval. Unless shifting of
locations within ABC is involved, no email backup/restore
requests will be entertained."

Are there any legal/other implications of this..irrespective
of the countries ?
