I agree with the USGS and/or NOAA. However, local administrative staff and law enforcement may not be able to provide you such information under the Critical Infrastructure Information Act of 2002, esp. if the site or location is close to or within proximity of a 'high risk' area. Your local/state EPA, not to mention the U.S. EPA, may be "toothless" against directives coming from DHS, which may override your request. Start with your local county Office of Emergency Management group (formerly "Emergency Services Disaster Agency", or "ESDA"). Your county-based OEM is a subset to the Department of Homeland Security, which services FEMA. Start there and work your way up. If you get too many hastles or get nowhere with your local county group, you might have to make a request using FOIA to DHS. -rad ----- Original Message ----- From: ROB DIXON [mailto:rdixon () workforcewv org] To: chrisinskeep914 () hotmail com, security-basics () securityfocus com Subject: Re: RE: Proximity of DR Sites & U.S. City Hazards
Is you are in the US, contact your state's dept of environmental protection. They have the geologist that create these maps. Also, you could try FEMA. Robert L. Dixon, CSO CHFI A+ State of West Virginia's West Virginia Office of Techonology Infrastructure Applications Netware/GroupWise Administrator Telephone: (304)-558-5472 ex.4225 Email:rdixon () workforcewv org<chrisinskeep914 () hotmail com> >>>As to major environmental hazards, the US Geologic Survey and NOAA have authoritative information. However, there is still much unknown, therefore, considerable risk arising from that fact. Local authorities should be able to provide maps regarding flood plains and other material of interest to zoning/community planners and the construction industry. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- EARN A MASTER OF SCIENCE IN INFORMATION ASSURANCE - ONLINE The Norwich University program offers unparalleled Infosec management education and the case study affords you unmatched consulting experience.
