Agreed, especially (to be annoying ion the use of another analogy as bad
as they are for this purpose) as "rattling a doorknob" is unlikely to
cause a house to collapse (or cause other damage), whereas doing a
vulnerability scan of a system MAY cause damage (intended or not).

I think the many analogies that have been posted demonstrate that
network security and the security/safety of one's family in their home
