Why not using brute force ? Yes, intruders will surely try it, but a correct security policy will take this sort of attack down, by blacklisting 3 or fourth login failure for a determinated time.... Preventing users from defining simple password and applying a brute force preventing security policy will for sure do the rest of the game....... Otherwise using rainbow table to test passwords might be a good idea... and will take less time
