Hi Don and SecFocus folks, Choice is a good thing and now GIAC students have the choice to enhance the (practically oriented) GIAC exams with an original practical GOLD paper. They also have the choice to take these exams in a Proctored environment. Though students going for the highest Platinum level certs HAVE to take Proctored exams AND contribute original research, a requirement which has kept GIAC unique. To answer the original question there is value in GSEC compared to other certs as it has a high level of practical knowledge in the exams. HTH, Paul
