Re: Detecting WAPs

Hopefully others correct me if I am wrong, but I feel that unless you do wireless scanning, you cannot ensure that you
don't have a rogue AP up in your network.

As a note, it might help to know what you mean by rogue AP. There are two typical uses for this and which one you mean
might change your responses:

1) Do you mean detecting any wireless networks put up by your users and you currently do not have a wireless network?
(not too hard)

2) Do you want to detect rogue APs that are masquerading as your AP? (more difficult)

What are you guys doing to detect rouge access points?

I am interested in detection without the use of wireless technonlogy.

Are you simply using NAC for this? Are you scanning and automatically
disabling ports?
