Hi s0h0us,
Has anyone had any experience with HP's Integrated Light-Out...
Yes.
Good, bad, secure,etc?
They are great. Especially the virtual power button for a misbehaving windows server. I try to get them installed (if not already) in all HP servers. Speaking comparitively, RILOs and ILOs beat Dell's DRAC hands down. But the last time I tried using DRACs with a Dell was a few years ago (circa 2006 or 2007). If all you want is remote administration, without a need for the advanced function such as virtual power buttons, go with a VPN and use RDP from a jump box. But I highly recommend the ILO boards. As far as security, I don't ever recall trying to break in to the board so nothing stands out [perhaps someone else can help here]. As a whole, I believe the system is about as secure as the LAN segment on which they exist. Don't allow configurations that put ILO boards on the internet, access through VPN from a jump box, etc. Jeff On 7/22/09, s0h0us () yahoo com <s0h0us () yahoo com> wrote:
Hi List, Has anyone had any experience with HP's Integrated Light-Out Management Processor (iLO MP), specifically as a system administrator's remote management capabilities? Good, bad, secure, etc? Thanks in advance for your responses [SNIP]
