vixie cron pre v3.0

regarding vixie cron pre 3.0
 
i have located the hole in crontab and disabled that on my system until i
have v3.0 installed.  ftp'ed and in process of configuration and test.

did crond (previous name of cron) have any holes as well?  should i
disable it until v3.0 is ready?
 
i want to understand the holes, not just plug them.  otherwise i run the
risk of recreating the holes when i write code myself.
