So lately I've been reading "Green Mars" by Kim Stanley Robinson. A
few pages into it, you end up thinking "damn, this is what good
writing is like." So much of the writing these days is done by english
majors without a clue. Green Mars reads like something Amy Tan would
write if she understood science and was less obvious about pounding
points at you at the end of each chapter. Well, I take that back, it's
nothing like Amy Tan, which is why it's readable, but Amy Tan kinda
writes like she wishes she could write like Robinson.
