Im sure the judge is getting a cut from the settlement/paid off under the
table.

There is a lot of that going around American Politics these days.

If its not the president, it's a judge, if its not a judge, it's a senator.

Blah blah...

Although spam sucks, there is something real fishy about that settlement
award.

Indeed! If it will hold after the appeal.
Thing is, the spammers are not there to be found for paying, so they 
might not exist for appealing. Meaning this might become a real legal 
precedence.. so maybe there will even be a second.
