Yes. It also has a split past. The original RSA conference that started
in 1991 was a lot more like CRYPTO. There were academic papers on
various crypto-related subjects with the traditional peer review.

The other part is an IT security trade show. It's probably the largest
gathering of vendors of security products. The talks for this audience
are more oriented to CISSP.

While both tracks are still present, the two don't mix. It's like two
separate conferences in one location.

I've given two talks at RSA: "Designing and Attacking Virtual Machines"
(2004) and "Copy Protection Wars: Analyzing Retro and Modern Schemes"
(2007). My main motivation was that my company was going to be there
anyway, and these seemed like fun topics to try out, slightly off the
beaten path. I got mixed reviews. Half the people said they enjoyed the
break from yet another IT talk, and half said it wasn't relevant to them.
