UK: Doctor's laptop contain patient information stolen

CONFIDENTIAL patient information has been stolen from the home of a GP.

Burglars broke into Dr Thomas Lynch's family home in the early hours of 
July 16, stealing, among other things, the Dunstan Medical Centre's 
practice laptop.

The laptop contained confidential information about the thousands of 
people who are patients at the Tonge Fold GP's surgery.

But doctors at the practice insist any information stored on the computer 
is "held under the strictest multiple password security and unauthorised 
access would be highly unlikely".
