Matt,

We do random scans for network devices and we do regular scans for any
server on campus. The server admins are also responsible for doing their own
scans every 90 days. I would suggest that to protect yourself, that you have
a vulnerability mgt policy and standard that gives you permission to do the
scans and protects you if something happens (like taking down a server; it
can happen).

By the way, we need to get together. It's only 45 minutes for me from
Statesboro. Maybe you, Naomi (Sav. State) and I can get together and see
what each of us is doing to make our environments secure.
