Perhaps do your code development using a VM running under VMWare Fusion or the like so that it's not running directly on the workstation where your AV tools are running? Install the development applications in the VM machine used for development and NAT that out so that it can connect to your VSS or GitHub for development purposes, but nothing else. Just an idea. Application development activity has increased over the past couple of years and a lot of new developers have joined the IT department. We have recently learned that our AV tools ( McAfee and Cylance) are impacting developer productivity because developers may run downloaded software or use uncommon ports that are then blocked by the AV tools. We eventually resolve the issues but developers want us to investigate different methods of providing end point protection for their local development workstations. We want to develop a strategy for protecting developer workstations before developers get so frustrated they start disabling AV on their workstations. Suggestions on possible approaches would be appreciated. Thanks ********** Replies to EDUCAUSE Community Group emails are sent to the entire community list.
