I heard about similat technology before, but don't remember where. Anyhow I read Necore's "Introduction to Associative Processing" (http://www.neocore.com/html/the_technology.html) and am still puzzled to what their so-called Icons are, how they are generated from data and how they are manipulated by the Association Processing Unit. (Associative processing starts with producing information icons from data. These Icons are small, fixed lengths of code (or symbols) containing the logical properties of the original data. Meaning IP adresses, TCP/UDP ports, TCP options,... so what do Icons actually contain?) Maybe non-technical people may be overwhelmed by the introduction and take it for granted, but I don't understand it at all... I recently asked Neocore for more information on the "how"-issues and am still waiting for response. But maybe somebody on the list can give me a clue. Gr. Apparently Neo-Core is coming out with a PF NIC that is configurable by 'the host'. (http://www.neocore.com) Interesting idea, similar concept to the Cabletron Yago switch which does hardware routing, via tables maintained by routing software. Bill Stout
