     Yes, this is done in the industry but...  I have always felt that the
firewall is a pretty busy box just doing it's normal job.  I would offload
this onto another machine for performance reasons if nothing else.  I also
think that it is best to run as little as possible on the firewall.  less
code = less bugs = potentially stronger firewall
