As a Napster fan, I'm glad you can't figure out how to block outsiders from fetching your files. The success of Napster is based on sharing, if you don't want to share your goodies, then you shouldn't get to play. Besides, IMHO there is no security risk in sharing your files. I've never heard of any Napster exploits. And if what you are concerned about is bandwidth than you shouldn't let your people download either. Anyway, the whole thing will be moot soon when napster gets shutdown. ... that's my 2 cents for ya

Thanks to those who have pointed out that Napster has both "push" and "pull" technology(!) inside it to get around those pesky firewalls. What my plan had been was to allow people "on the inside" to fetch things using napster but prevent outsiders from being able to retrieve files. Short of disabling sharing in all the napster clients, this doesn't appear to be possible? A napster proxy might also do the trick, if there were documentation on the protocol...
