Loggin through a firewall

Does anybody know of a secure way to send logs through a firewall with
syslog on linux?  Is there a simple way to do this?  Does this use a
specific port?
   We have a DMZ with several Linux servers that we would like to get logs
from.  The logserver is behind a linux firewall.
Any help would be appreciated.  Links, leads, info...
