Ron good thing to post. I found that most of the hubs were actually swubs, or switchable hubs. They are hubs, with a switch between the 10 bus and the 100 bus. If you can find a 10M Hub or a 100M hub, you should be good to go. Mike On Thu, Aug 05, 2004 at 02:04:28PM -0400, Ron Gula wrote:
I know there are a lot of NIDS old-timers on here, but for the folks getting into monitoring, please be aware that many times, if you go to Best Buy or CompUSA (at least here in the US) and buy a hub, you may actually be getting a cheap switch. If you can find the documentation online for the hub, you may be able to tell if it behaves as a switch or is a real hub.
