There are a few basic things that are being missed out. An IPS or IDS can and should consist of multiple sub systems to be effective - for example a host protection element, a network protection element and preferably a detection element to mop up the rest. Don't expect a single unit to offer you the ultimate in network protection security, as it won't, contrary to the belief of many ill educated vendor salespeole out there who see security as a commodity. Good luck with the homework.... :) Sent from my BlackBerry® wireless device -----Original Message----- From: jlynnmonett () yahoo com Date: 4 Apr 2007 21:29:44 To:focus-ids () securityfocus com Subject: IDS Security Metris Could someone help me.
