I think this has more to do with your poor choice of MUA.
Here is a header from a recent email from Valdis.Kletnieks:

Content-Type: multipart/signed; boundary="==_Exmh_-717208290P";
         micalg=pgp-sha1; protocol="application/pgp-signature"

It is not a txt attachment.
