http://www.dhsnnw.org/newsarticles/mar18_2008.html Home Network Awareness Program Announced 03/18/08 The Neighborhood Network Watch announced today the start of a new community program, the Home Network Awareness Program (HNAP). HNAP is aimed at providing an easy way for people to get involved and to contribute to the efforts of the Neighborhood Network Watch as well as providing the group with valuable information on the states of networks that reside in the homes of our nation.
Man, that is wunna the most detailed and extensive (and spookily
accurate) parodies I've seen.
The short bio at http://www.flickr.com/people/29059349@N00/ (the
names match the whois entry for dhsnnw.org) matches the mood of the
site exactly: ". . .a sick and twisted sense of humor that never
ceases to push that line that maybe shouldn't be crossed." For some
reason I'm reminded of http://www.theyesmen.org/ . And the Colbert
Report.
I've been waging a once-person campaign to get people to use the
term Poindexter for devices that can be used to surveil you covertly
(e.g. OnStar) when employed by people willing to subpoena, subvert,
coerce, bribe, etc. I have one convert so far. Oh, well. (see
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Poindexter if you're not familiar
with the man. Fascinating man, BTW)
