well, there i am.

... The reality is that no
real help is coming, now or in the future. There is no value whatsoever
in including these impotent organizations in planning or discussions: we
are on our own, as we have always been.

my plans don't involve an endless escalating holding action nor trying to
make the technology less foolprone for the large mass of sheeple using it,
since those proposals both have "LOSE!" writ large all over them.

what has to happen is humanity as a whole has to address this somehow, and
there have to be meatspace consequences for violating property or privacy
rights in our narrow little part of the world. until then we're all losers
even those of you who are wizardly enough to avoid having these problems or
who can successfully sell the service of protecting others.

And that's not an entirely bad thing: we have now, as we have always
had, the collectively ability to deal with problems like this without
any outside help. It's our own fault if we have failed to promptly and
effectively exercise that ability.

i disagree radically with the assumptions underlying those statements.
