The Telegraph is reporting that more than 8,000 computer viruses have
infected NHS computers over the past twelve months.  These, apparently,
were not just nuisance infections, but caused patient appointments to
be
rescheduled, caused test results to be lost, and kept some NHS staff
from accessing their systems.

The breaches were learned after a freedom of information request
