I was in the same boat a few months ago, so threw up a site with what I
found

www.internations.net/uk/talisker

It's still a little rough around the edges, but most of the supported
commercial products are in there, separated by type.
However if you are looking for freeware or research IDSas well as
Commercial, your best bet is

http://www-rnks.informatik.tu-cottbus.de/~sobirey/ids.html
or
http://www.cerias.purdue.edu/coast/ids/
or
http://www.robertgraham.com/pubs/network-intrusion-detection.html#4
2/3down the FAQ
or
I found a good one at http://www.icsa.net/html/communities/ids/index.shtml
but for the life of me I can't find it now, maybe you'll have more luck.

The NSA list at Sans.org has unfortunately been dropped, hopefully only
temorarily.

what I would ask though is that if you find any more please let me know

take care

Andy

Does anyone possess a list, or know a reference website URL (or URLs) that
contains a comprehensive list of all IDS products?

- to include what they do/do not do, and their vendor or developer contact
information (name, email and phone)?

I see several short product lists but none that are comprehensive and
totally representative of the whole IDS market - hence a broad & big
snapshot for today (ie., what might exist - don't know if it's 10 or 1000
products, and what niche area they might occupy within the IDS arena).

I'm also interested in similar listings of security products that are
non-IDS in nature (hence any and all protect, detect, react, and restore
security products to include those for planning, audit, risk, forensics,
IA/security metrics, and readiness assessments, etc)?

Please respond to me direct (since I'm not sure if all on the list want
this
information). I'm researching the whole area of Information Assurance
(and
security and IDSs) to determine what products might exist (commercial and
non-commercial), how mature they are, the technologies they employ, and
their operational advantages/disadvantages - to include their cost and
licensing restrictions.

The recent list discussions that compared many IDSs sparked my question.
Have a great IDS day!

Thanks, CHUCK
