Why not make it line with version numbers of Solaris and Oracle.  That 
would really confuse everyone.. :)

Or better yet name it ISS RealSecure Millenium.. :)

Sorry, I can't answer that one, but I'll comment. I think it started
when there was alot of confusion with customers using the Checkpoint
RealSecure package, and Checkpoint jumped versions to 4.2, or
something like that but I could be wrong.

Basically version numbers are something Marketing care most about,
and that's what they decided.  I stay far away from those things and
focus on product function and code development.

It's important for me to keep shipping products that address new
security attacks, etc., no matter what they call it.

How did the version number jump for 3.2.1999.255 to 5.0???  What
happenned
to 4.0???
Why not name ISS RealSecure 5.0 ISS RealSecure 2000.. :)

The forthcoming release of ISS RealSecure 5.0 will run on W2K.

Of the many things to consider before deploying an IDS on any
platform, security of the IDS machine, and performance factors need
to be considered.

Hi2all

I wonder if there is allready available IDS's for Windows 2000
Servers?
Any known NT version of a IDS tested on win2k?
It doesn't matter if it is freeware, shareware or comercial ...
anything
that can work in win2k is wellcome =)
(info on other win2k security apps will be appreciated too)
