Dave,

As I said before, I'm really not sure changing the focus of the ICANN meeting to security was very useful but it sure is a contrast to the other trends you have been
reporting here.

On one hand there are people jumping up and down and asking that websites about pipelines, locations of power plants, etc be taken off the net just to not give anyone any ideas. And people asking you to not reveal what went on during your brainstorming
sessions.

On the other...we get live feed and web archive of people sitting around (or standing) talking about how to bring down the root servers. It was particularly interesting to hear about Paul Vixie talking openly about at least one of the net's 'seven dirty
secrets'.

How long before someone reads the NYTimes article and decides that ICANN meetings
should be held in secret?

These are interesting times, and no, I don't have a solution or even an official opinion on net.self.censorship other than it is probably futile short-term what with the robustness of the net giving birth to the concept of mirrors and cached pages. And long-term, anyone who is determined can probably get the info somewhere else. OK. so
maybe that constitutes an opinion.

Feel free to publish this if you think it useful,
