Hi John and Dave,

Evergon, the Canadian photographer, did a series of photgraphs in the early
to mid 1980s based on his work with scanner photography.

Feeling constrained by the size limitations of the scanner platen, he
built a platform in his workspace out of plexiglas, and photographed
people and things lying on it from underneath.

Evergon is best known know for his life size Polaroid photographs of
composed tableaux based on Classical themes. He is now a professor at
Concordia University in Montreal.

I suspect the reason why people are so entranced by the flower scanner
photographs by Katinka Matson is more related to the improvement in
printing techniques over the last few years, than due to the use of
scanner technology. The images look better not because they are taken with
a scanner, but because large format ink jet printers now make great prints.
