Class Action Lawsuit Against Verizon for Crippling Bluetooth

A post over at Slashdot details the rumors that the law firm of Kirtland and
Packard is organizing a potential class action lawsuit in California against
Verizon Wireless for the crippling of Bluetooth in the v710. Apparently,
newer versions of the v710 cripple Bluetooth functionality even further.

UPDATE: The Wall Street Journal is now covering the class action suit.

The lawsuit contends that the term Bluetooth represents certain features, so
to say that a cellphone has Bluetooth but then deliver only some of its
features is misleading. Verizon Wireless's Web site touts the Bluetooth
functions on the V710 model by saying "you can make hands-free, eyes-free
calls, and connect to your PC or PDA whenever and wherever you want."

 It's not rumored anymore, the law firm has filed for class action status
for this lawsuit.
