What happens if you don't *know* the password?

For example, your company has loaner laptops for travel, and you only  
have the password to one of half a dozen accounts on the machine?

For example, your company has good anti-piracy policies that include  
locking down administrator functions, and you aren't permitted to get  
into the administrator accound?

For example, you're a courier and you aren't yourself authorized to  
know what's on the machine?

Dave,

I wonder how long all of these fascinating, sophisticated techniques
will hold up when persons are threatened with:

   a) Lengthy extended prison terms for not coughing up exactly
      the demanded data with no screwing around ...

   and/or:

   b) Coercive techniques of the sort that the White House implied
      they could continue to use (as noted in the signing statement
      for an anti-torture bill) at their discretion
