Subject: Calif. may turn car license plates into distracting e-ads

This has to be the winner of the Stupid Distracted Driving
Idea of the Year -- maybe the decade. The legislature here in
California wants to study turning car license plates into distracting
"e-advertising" devices. If they *really* think that limiting the ads
to times when cars are stopped for a few seconds will make them any
less distracting overall, we'll see what they say when the lawsuits
from injured drivers start rolling in.

It's pretty (sickly) hilarious that the same legislature that pushed
through a ban on hand-held cell phones -- despite every study showing
that hand-held and hands-free cell phone use are equally distracting,
is even *thinking* about this looney license plate concept.

Dumb dumb dumb.
