I recently subscribed to The Guardian, and just received a thank-you note.
I thought IPers might find this part of it interesting:


The Guardian has no proprietor and just one shareholder, the Scott Trust.
This unique ownership structure means all of our profits are reinvested in
our journalism. But with advertising revenues falling fast, we also need
supporters, like you, who believe in the value of independent,
investigative journalism.
