To my mind, it makes no odds wether it is a .vbs script, an .exe, a word macro or whatever - chances are I'll find someone to run it for me, as was proved recently by whoever wrote the iloveyou worm. How long will it take for people to think for a second before blindly double-clicking on an attachment ?
Excuse me? The function of email is sending text and attachments! Are you really insinuation that the problem with virii is that people blindly click on attachments? I can't believe how Windows users have been manipulated into actually believing that an attachment or a virus is the problem?! I have never had an email or attachment compromise the security of any of my computers. Don't let Microsoft brainwash you into believing that the attachment is the problem. The problem is that attachments can actually do damage on Windows. The problem is that Microsoft makes insecure software with even less secure default settings. And that ILOVEYOU email was just a piece of text that I had a good laugh about when I read it (the attachment). There is NO INHERENT DANGER in the attachment. Felix BTW: http://www.fefe.de/iloveyou.html has a writeup about this in German in case anyone needs one. Today a member of parliament visits me so maybe we can hold Microsoft responsible for their software at least in Europe. ;-) ISN is sponsored by SecurityFocus.com --- To unsubscribe email LISTSERV () SecurityFocus com with a message body of "SIGNOFF ISN".
