Russia intends to propose the United Nations to create an international
system of information security, Security Council first
deputy secretary Vladislav Sherstyuk said.

He said on Thursday that Russia also intends to confront the threat of
use of "information weapons" against it.

Sherstyuk stressed that the so-called "information weapons" became a
"new and very serious threat" both for Russia and the
international community.

In this connection, he stressed the need to inform the public opinion
about this threat broadly and the new doctrine of
information security proposed by Russian President Vladimir Putin will
facilitate it.

He called for preparing a federal programme to implement the doctrine.
To this end, it is necessary to determine the methods
in order to implement the doctrine.
