This issue is caused by a bug in the Ruby interpreter; the only way to
really solve it is by upgrading to a fixed version. The Ubuntu and
Gentoo repositories have been updated, but everyone else (Unix) needs to
install the latest Ruby stable snapshot (the latest 'release' is also
problematic):

ftp://ftp.ruby-lang.org/pub/ruby/stable-snapshot.tar.gz

Sorry for the trouble, I wish we had a better solution. What operating
system/distro are you using?
