how to send multiple streams from meterpreter back to console

Hello,

Suppose I want a post module that would send traffic independent of
current interraction with session, i.e, there could be a module which
sends a screenshot every N minutes back to console. What's the best
way to achieve it? Can it be done in-band or should it be done out of
band?
