BTW, about that "can't link to C" argument, I actually have a complaint

[snipped most of your argument]

It's true that you can link your C++ module in apache, and just as
easily in nmap as well. That's the nice thing about using such a closely
related language. The really cool thing is that I can link perl and lisp
in as well, since C is quite forgiving of foreign function calls.

Although that may be because my compiler was just smarter than most, so I am
still going to cede that nmap should continue forward in C, and I'm even
going to extend that to nmap+V.

No need, unless you feel it. In answer to part of your other post, C is
not my preferred language, I just think that nmap is best off staying in
C. LISP is my preferred language, and Perl would be second. Any
assembler (excluding BAL) would be third, and C is a mere fourth.

IMHO Since Fyodor made his point this "thread" has no place on
the list....

Well, I suppose if Fyodor wants it to stop, he'll step right up and say
so. I am finding it useful, and interesting. Saurik, my dear, I am
composing a long answer to your long post, but it deserves more
attention that I can give it right this minute. Stay tuned.
