RE: RE: Nmap on WinXP Pro?

I can not pinpoint the failure to something, it just sits there for a long time and then tells me nothing is online... I have not had time to see what its doing at the network level. I will try to apply your patches tonight, but considering beta30 and beta31 work on 3 XP boxes here and fail on one I'd say it's a problem with my setup. Stou

try
applying my latest post-31 patch -- it fixes a _very_ long-standing
bug
that affects ICMP echo on windows. work
and -sT only works with -P0... the XP installation on that box is complete crap though... everything needs to be reinstalled... so I
think
that's the problem at least on my end. Stou-----Original Message----- From: Jeff [mailto:typoon () free fr] Sent: Saturday, March 30, 2002 10:38 AM To: nmap-dev () insecure org Subject: Re: RE: Nmap on WinXP Pro? Well, After making some tests, it seems that for differents live hosts
on
theInternet normally replying to ICMP echo request : - Syn scanning does not work (-sS) - Connect Scanning works fine (-sT) - I need the -P0 option to have the TCP Connect Scan working fine.
If
no,no host is detected I gave all rights to nmap (either TCP and UDP) on Tiny Firewall
and MS
Firewall is not activated. I don't have any logs in Tiny saying something was deny to nmap oreven tosvchost. But maybe it's now the wrong mailing list as nmap is not the
problem
;-)Thanks for your help anyway. Jeff BTW : Got the same result with Tiny off... ----- Original Message ----- From: "Andy Lutomirski" <luto () myrealbox com> To: <nmap-dev () insecure org> Sent: Friday, March 29, 2002 6:22 AM Subject: Re: RE: Nmap on WinXP Pro? If anyone has trouble getting their nmap on windows to find
adapters,
runnmap --win_trace --win_list_interfaces -d -d, which will display
the
adapter list as nmap sees it and much of the thinking along the way. I really do not have the experience/expertise to tell why it is
not
working for you. There are command line options for specifying
the
adapter to use. Like -S for the IP and -e for the device name.
I've
never had to use them so i don't know how -e works under wintendo,
but
maybe someone on the list will be able to help you. The URLs for the nmaps I built with .NET and which work on my XP
and
w2kmachines (except 1 system) are here: http://www.cell2000.net/~users/tangui/nmap-2.54BETA30.bin.D.zip http://www.cell2000.net/~users/tangui/nmap-2.54BETA31.bin.D.zip Note: it might be wise to scan these files with an anti-virus
program
since I don't own such a thing and can not guarantee them being
virus
free. Stou -----Original Message----- From: andrew [mailto:asteffek () worldnet att net] Sent: Tuesday, March 26, 2002 9:05 AM To: tangui () cell2000 net Subject: RE: Nmap on WinXP Pro? the beta nmpa i got from insecure for win32 (mine on win2k sp2)
keeps
telling me i don't have a correct adapter even if i use the -e
switch.
adapter not found QUITTING! know of a workaround or of a download place for a working nmap for win2k?? thanks, andrew security specialist
