-sP 1.1.1.0/24

Hello everyone,
I hope that this is the appropriate list for these kind of questions.

I have notices something odd with the nmap ping scan:

# nmap -sP 1.1.1.0/24
Starting nmap V. 2.54BETA31 ( www.insecure.org/nmap/ )
Host  (1.1.1.0) appears to be up.
Host  (1.1.1.1) appears to be up.
Host  (1.1.1.2) appears to be up.
Host  (1.1.1.3) appears to be up.
...
Host  (1.1.1.253) appears to be up.
Host  (1.1.1.254) appears to be up.
Host  (1.1.1.255) appears to be up.

Nmap run completed -- 256 IP addresses (256 hosts up) scanned in 34 seconds

These hosts should definitly be reported as down since there
does not exists any such network that this machine can access.
This only happens with the 1.1.1.0/24 network.

ping -c 3 1.1.1.1
PING 1.1.1.1 (1.1.1.1): 56 data bytes

--- 1.1.1.1 ping statistics ---
3 packets transmitted, 0 packets received, 100% packet loss

Bug or feature? Am I missing something?
